City run shelters don't have as many rules and requirements as rescue groups or other shelters, they maily deal with state and city rules, for example spay/neutering the animals, or you signing a contract that it will ne done by a certain time.
Yes! We have an open adoptions policy and adoptions are currently free. The companionship of a pet should be accessible to all those who want to provide that love and care to a shelter pet. We also have programs to support pet owners in times of need such as our Pet Food Pantry. All are welcome to come find their new furry companion at Dallas Animal Services!
