Timothy's advice is good, but for some reason that app acts up a lot. I'm a monthly parker, and I end up stuck behind a lot of people using spothero who are having trouble getting in. The credit card just gives you more options, including paying at checkout
Cash is king, yes. However, I might recommend trying SPOTHERO app. You pay ahead with your credit card, receive a barcode for your smartphone and probably save some money.
