You only get one or the other. If you have what you need for a license, go for that first. And you can check every nearby office frequently to get the soonest appointment. I got seen really fast in Jefferson.
It's a two week minimum for an appointment. Your driver's license is your ID. When you Renee you'll be given a choice of getting a "real ID" or a standard license. No extra ID is necessary.
As far as I know your license is your ID once you renew you will get a temporary ID until your new one comes in the mail. You should select renew license
You need to call ahead took me 10 days to get an appointment.
