No. It's some kind of ordinance against them. Just umbrellas.

I know in recent years they did not allow canopies between certain times of the year, mainly the busy summer comes. It was only restricted to umbrellas. They may have loosened the restrictions on that, but I just came back from there today and I did not see one canopy on the beach. Only umbrellas

No only umbrellas it's a rule Horry County came up with due to problems with them on the lower end of MB so they made it a rule for all The County
