Hey Lloyd, Steamer refers to the type of clam. Steamers tend to have a thinner, softer shell than it's hard-shell cousins known as quahogs. They are sometimes sold cooked, but typically live. DeKalb Farmers' Market also sells shucked clams and oysters.
