That is pretty high...online stores can charge less because there is no or little overhead. This vet will work with online pharmacies (Allivet is a goodbone) to get your pets meds at home.
While I do like this place. They did a great job helping my dog when he got hit by a car. One does have to consider that the pill has a markup on it and likely labor was the major culprit due to them administering it. I don't like high bills either, like a $3800 bill for my dogs knee surgery. But these guys are really friendly. And they love the animals they care for as much as their job. (Meant in a good way). I would take the advice of the other posters that of questioning ahead of time.
Heartwork meds require a written prezcription even on-line. In Florida, heartworm treatment is monthly 12 months a year. I just paid $59.11 for 12 monthly doses in the 0-25 pound range at veterinary medical center. I get all my dog and cat meds from veterinary medical since 2015. Why did you order just one pill since the better deals are a 6 month or 12 month package. Also, the bigger the dog the more your meds are going to be so ensure you get the right heartworm meds for their weight class. I use heartguard for all my pets for the last 33 years. Also, you have to have your dog checked for heartworm yearly to conginue getting the prescription so maybe the charge was for testing as well plus cost of one pill?
You have to ask what everything is for and how much. Just like anything else their business is to make money by preying on your emotions and ignorance. Educate yourself before you buy anything. All vets do it. I found they have no morals. Buy heartworm med by the six pack.
