You can easily check for spark with an inexpensive tool available at most auto parts stores. It plugs directly into the plug wire and you can set the gap on it. Then crank the engine and you can see if you have spark through the sight glass.
Not a mechanic, but if your spark plug is fouled up or has some type of deposits on it you will need new spark plugs that can possibly be why they changed them to create a spark
