I just witnessed a 737 take off over my house. Hoping this won’t be the norm? Very low and close to my house. Why can’t they take off over the open space near airport?

There are occasional charter flights for the local college teams going to and from games at other schools. You may have seen a visiting team departing. If they turned off the normal northbound departure path it was likely to accommodate other air traffic in the area.

FAA has sole jurisdiction on airspace. It is always the pilot's discretion for takeoffs and landings as the value over life precedes any other concerns. Large jet traffic was from our bi-monthly casino charter vacation flights which have always occurred and the reoccurrence of college athletic team charter flights which occur every fall and winter. Additionally, heights for takeoffs and landings of these 737s were well within the restrictions set by the FAA. As a public use Airport, similar to how public roads are used by all the public, we are unable to discriminate any operator from using the Airport facility.
