Why is it that Walmart in brawley does not make it mandatory for employees to speak English to the English only speaking customers. It’s impossible to get help when all they say to u is me no English. We r still in the us and English primary language

I don't think it's a requirement at any Walmart to speak English...

I just really don’t get it, How does it bother someone if you are not speaking to them, trying to get information? They obviously are paying taxes, just like everyone else.

Management doesn't care they allow employees to treat customers bad if u go get a manager. And go back to thay employee a miracle has occurred they speak English.

I have had that experience at the Walmart at Brawley. So I even asked my wife if they intentionally employ only individuals who are incapable to speak English?. Something needs to be done about it

Jerry W | Oct 5, 2019

I came Brawley to visit family. I found the same experience with non-english speaking associates. I did notice that happened mostly with female staff in the back of the store. The male associates all spoke English, at least with our experiences. The checkers speak English. This is OK, considering the location and demographics.

if you can't communicate with customers and other employees or the supervisor then you are asking for trouble ...if you don't speak English then I won't hire ..

I honestly believe that's why online shopping is so popular these days you order online and don't have to talk to anyone it's as simple as 1,2,3. 😀

I'm Mexican and although I do speak Spanish, I can understand your frustrations. I'm almost positive, you'll find someone that could help you. God bless!

Hello, I actually know the answer to this, in the US, if a store fires an employee for speaking spanish in the job, the employee can file a lawsuit for discrimination which is a violation of the federal law, in other words, they prefer allowing employees to talk spanish. In addtion, usually those who dont speak spanish are usually stockers.

I personally Haven't experienced that, maybe you should bring it up with the manager.

Patricia Ochoa | Sep 6, 2022

The United States government allows Americans to speak any language they want. This right is protected in the Constitution.

A lot of the workforce comes from across the border since most locals are too lazy to apply or put up too much demands or want temp hours 4 or less

Laurie Mason | Oct 4, 2021
