The original 1618 s State st. Store was opened in 1973. There was locations near Hillcrest HS, Two separate locations on North Temple and a WVC location on 3200west.. just the State St. and the 2125 s 3200 w remain.. but yes we are and have always been the original Grinders 13
Thank you so much for the update on Grinders 13. Yes there was a store across the street from Hillcrest High School where Ream's grocery store was in a strip mall. I no longer live in Utah but I try to get back home from time to time and if I had known you have been around for over 45+years I certainly would have made you my go to for the best Sub sandwiches and the fries were the bombest ( best ) you ever tasted especially after they cooked them extra crispy. Was my go to place in highschool (1977-79) and now when I drive back to Salt lake City for Dr's and family you will be my forever Best sub sandwich shop in the world. Sorry I write novels but we'll worth it for me. Ohh could you please give me the location or locations of your establishment again ?
7th East and what South? Moe the owner gave an exact history, however, We are familiar with the area and alot of the history. I am from the 7th East and 27th South proximity and know the area during the 1970-1980 era.
There are two grinders in salt lake one on state street (the original, under new management, but still the same great food) and the second one in west valley (were the original owner, semi retired can be found ) both have great food can't go wrong. I have been a faithful customer since 1973 (yeah that long :) )
There's only ever been one Grinders 13 in Salt Lake so far as I know. They've changed locations a few times but it's the same franchise (so far as I know)
