Sometimes, when a person isn't home a neighbor will step in and volunteer to accept the package, rather than have the postal worker just leave it on the porch. It protects both parties. The postal worker knows who has the package and thieves can't just take it from your porch.
I'm sure that's due to human error. But as a good citizen that would want to get their own package. I recommend either giving back to USPS delivery carrier or dropping off to the address listed.
