What is the difference between Camp Sequassen and Camp Workcoeman? They are both BSA camps and are on the same property. So are they one and the same? Why the two names? It's confusing. Thank you!

Hi Monica, Iam on the Maintenance Committee for 22 years now, a Campmaster fir the same amount if time, and wss on summer camp staff fir three summers. The answers below answer your question precisely. The onky additional bit of information is that any Boy/Girl scout troop can use either camp. It is not restricted to where a group is geographically located. Even troops from outside of CT camp at both camps. Although I am partial to Sequassen and Ranger Dave, Ranger Frank at Worcoeman has a fine camp. I look forward to possibly seeing you or your group up at Sequassen some day. Bob Krakovich

They are owned and run by different CT boy scout councils. SEQ is owned by CT Yankee Council and Workcoman is own by the CT Rivers Council. Each council serves different territories of the state of CT

Camp Workcoeman is owned by the Connecticut Rivers Council and camp Sequassen is owned by the Yankee Council. They are both their own camp in the respect of them both having ther own dining halls, water fronts, camp sites, rangers and many more things.if this leaves anything unanswered or brings up more questions please ask and i will try my best to answer them.

Wow! That was fast! Thank you everyone. My son is young, 2nd grade, so we are fairly new to Boy Scouts, but i was out in the area for a pack campout. I am more familiar with Girl Scouts, having been one, being a leader, and having two daughters who are Girl Scouts. In the past, there were different Councils for Girl Scouts in the state, but many years ago they just combined into one for the state. It has made for a lot of efficiencies and less confusion. So, I kind of have a sense of what you mean about the two councils, but it is also a bit baffling. Why can't CT Scouts just go to which camp has the schedule and programs one likes?

I think one of the biggest differences is who governs and runs the camps. Camp Sequassen is run by the Connecticut Yankee Council and Camp Workcoeman is run by the Connecticut Rivers Council. So possibly depending on where the Scout troop is located controls which of the two camps is available for Summer Camp for that troop.
