Yeah, I also haven't had any issues with the kids. I politely refused and they were polite in return.
I have seen some waiting for a quarter in exchange of helping you, but haven't seen one's misbehavior yet.
I've never had the kids behave badly. What I have had, are people wanting the cart as you're putting it away and not offering the quarter
I have never had any issues with them. They will even help you for free if you don't have money. They're just trying to make money instead of just straight up begging.

These kids have always been nice to me as I try to be nice to them as well. They're just kids trying to earn some spending money. 25c to help load your car or take your cart back to the line is more than fair. No harm no foul.
