The same could be said for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Why just country, why not all types of music: pop, electronic, folk, etc. The reason is because the museums want to provide a focus to a specific topic. I will tell you this, I have been to a lot of museums and this one is one of my favorites. It is very interactive and has a clear attention to details. I hope you get the opportunity to experience it for yourself.
Elliott Marshall: it is the National Museum of African American Music. That's why African American music is featured. The African roots of African American music are traced at the museum. Much of the music we listen to today can be traced to the same root, whoever the recording artist. This museum is a superb education, and loads of fun.
We( African American) was sold to the slave traders by our own people. If one tribe attacked another and lost the men was given to the traders. The music came with those who was in captivity.
Because there's no way to truly separate the two. The museum is awesome, fantastic, and marvelous!! So much went into this project; the information, the visuals the history. One day is not enough time to truly experience this museum. I hope everyone gets an opportunity to experience it and thank you so much to everyone past and present who made this experience so engaging and educational❣️
The museum honors the heritage of African Music and how that influenced the slave diaspora in America. Go visit and discover more

Huh?
I'd say it's all about what draws people in. Rock and roll and hip hop are what most people are interested in. I'm sure I would have passed on a fully immersive experience in African music, but the opportunity to learn more about the origins of rock got me there. However, if you want to start your own museum about African music, I'd say follow your bliss, and start with a Facebook page. I'm sure you'll fine like minded people there.
As the books that have been written prior only FOCUSED on the Majority this is an opportunity for persons of African American descent to showcase the contributions made to this country from the Beginning.
Is only about Americans who are African or Africans who became American? Do they include African decent from other countries? Not all African singers are from america
