MD won't let you have a handgun unless you have an HQL, which involves mandatory classes, getting fingerprinted and entered into the MD state police system, background checks, paying a bunch of fees, etc. MD also requires that all handguns be registered as regulated firearms, which involves a mandatory week waiting period between when you pay for the firearm and when you can pick it up. MD also prevents you from purchasing more than 1 regulated firearm per month. Technically you can apply for a "collectors permit" which alleviates this 1-per-month restriction, but the state is really dragging their feet with handing those out. I know people who have been waiting on the state for over a year.
I got my collector’s in 2 weeks… and an HQL is easy just don’t mind the md fees and you won’t mind the training. Honestly, training makes sense …
