Depends on your kid and their age. I took my kids through on Halloween and my 4 year old got a little spooked, but got over it pretty quickly. My 6 and 7 year old thought it was really cool. I wouldn't say there is anything inappropriate. If you have older kids and want to do a room as a family, I think it would be a great experience. Even if the puzzles are too difficult for the younger family members, you can find little tasks to keep them involved. I would recommend the Revolutionary War room. The WW2 room was the one that my youngest got a little spooked.
We did the Revolutionary war room and it was great, I dont think it would be scary but not sure they would be drawn in, the puzzles may be a little beyond their understanding. My family did great but my youngest is 15
