There is a dog kennel so to speak in the far back left corner of the store, and it has regular adoption dogs in it all the time. The dogs are listed online as well, so check that regularly to get an idea of what to expect.
PetSmart has adoption days at various times throughout the year. We got our lab/ border collie at one of these. Check with your local store and find out when they have them.
No dogs, just cats. Try the humane society.
