Yes. They are.

I go to Trader Joe's because they have adequate parking and I like the food. Whole Foods is closer but it is hard to find a parking spot. They have prepared food and their food is good quality. I can't really compare prices since I have not been to Whole Foods very much. I have gone there in the middle of the week and the parking lot is always packed so I go to Trader Joe's a few blocks further. I have been very satisfied with the food, the employees and cleanliness of Trader Joe's.

I don't know if comparing them directly to whole foods is a good comparison. Trader Joe's typically has pretty good prices on most things, many times even better prices than regular grocery chains. The stores are smaller though, so the selection isn't as good as at a whole foods. Cheeses are very reasonable, meatless items are definitely best prices, and you can ask for a sample of anything. The employees really make it a pleasant shopping experience.
