Hi Regino! The United Palace was built in 1930 as one of five Loew’s “Wonder Theatres” across the boroughs and New Jersey. The final first-run film screening was in 1969 with 2001: A Space Odyssey. The building was purchased (and saved from demolition) by the United Palace of Spiritual Arts later that year and has functioned as a spiritual arts center for nearly 50 years. In 2013, monthly film screenings returned to the Palace with state-of-the-art projection and sound equipment. And with 3,400 seats and a 50-foot screen, it's a movie-lover's dream. We will be screening The Wiz this Sunday at 4:30pm, in honor of it's 40th Anniversary--if you're in NYC, check it out! Thanks for the detailed information about the Palace. I'm in Miami FL, with family in NYC. I'll make it a point to come visit. Best wishes!
