Lower part of garden is closed to the public due to damage to pergola, walkways, and railings. Plants will be replaced when suitable plants are available. Upper tier is open & still worth a visit. View of the river & San Marco is lovely. Have a cup of coffee under the big oak tree after visiting the galleries
Unfortunately, they are still undergoing reconstruction. We are working with WLA Studio, an architecture and planning firm from Athens, GA to create a strong plan for moving forward. Sadly, there are likely still many months of work before the gardens will be fully open to the public.
I was at the Cummer this morning. The lower gardens are still closed. Although some of the plants are coming back many will need to be replaced The upper garden is beautiful!! Azaleas in full bloom, pansies peeking over the edge of the pots and Hollyhocks stretching to touch the sky.
As of two weeks ago the upper garden with the old growth trees was open but the lower Gardens were still cordoned off. You can look down on them, but they are not yet restored.
You can view them but it's still in major repair.
