Not worth it! From NY and it does not taste the same.
I haven't tried the one at New York but my friends told me that there is certainly a taste difference between them. And you can guess which one is better :)
I have had both. 59th street taste better and is lamb and not beef. The Halal Guys in Orlando is beef. Rice and chicken taste similar but I would still say 59th street food cart is better.
It is good but not up to NYC par! Halal guys started opening brick and mortar stores in the city and there is one on 91st and Columbus (I believe). It is more the Halal guys nostalgia for me. It's good enough to eat until I can make it back to NYC for the original
The Halal Guys stopped serving lamb approximately 16 yrs ago. Those who insist they got lamb from the Halal Guys in NY, were at one of many copycat carts or are just very misinformed about what they are eating. Also, some recipes have changed. If you haven't been to the carts lately, this explains why some may think the food tastes differently. All locations use the same vendors, the same product and the same recipe and cooking procedures. What we cant give you is that NY City atmosphere :)
Why would you drive 2 hours to go to a restaurant
Why don't they carry lamb?
Not worth a two hour drive.
Food was delicious
Haven't been to the 59th street one, so I cannot speak to the flavor. I can say that if you hold your previous tasting to a high standard then I am sure anything other than what you have tasted before will rank less. I can also say I wasn't impressed with the flavor of the meal I had there.
