I would go into the store and get properly fitted for a pair of shoes based on your stride and foot pattern. The Ft Worth Running Co specializes in running several tests to make sure you get the perfect shoes for you.
Agree with everyone. I have an old knee injury, & I always thought I had low arches. Turns out I have normal arches that just look low because my feet are a bit wide. And I over pronate on the knee injuryside. They will show you video of you walking in neutral shoes. You try on the right kinds of shoes for your needs. Then you can watch yourself on video again to see if your issues are corrected. Huge difference for me. I've always loved running but thought my knee & getting older meant it was normal to enjoy it less. Changing my shoes made such a difference, & I'm back to running 4-5 times a week. Plus their prices don't seem inflated for the custom experience (comparing same shoe at a sporting or athletic store). Don't think they carry Sketchers, but they have a good selection of shoes for correcting all sorts of issues. I don't really go all out for the latest/trendiest work out clothes, but I think it's worth it to spend $$$$$ on really great shoes.
Definitely go check out your foot type and gait. They will scan your foot to see where the pressure is focused, and also watch via slo-mo how your foot moves when you walk. They put a bit of science behind helping you find the right shoe
You should go in to the store to find the best shoe for you. They will look at where your foot has the most pressure and choose and shoe for you based on that.
