Small towns usually charge more. But I've noticed that prices over the hill are a little steeper sometimes. Not always though. Small town living usually equals higher prices.
I have literally driven straight from an Albertsons in Meridian to the Albertsons in Emmett and the prices are identical. The issue is that Albertsons is the highest priced grocery chain of all of them--THAT is why the prices are so high. Ten Mile Walmart is only 14 mi away!
Only big grocery store in Emmett.
