Go to Loma Linda VA hospital, it's not what it use to be but it's much better than cook st. Clinic. For benefits there a number of veterans organizations that that help.

Im sorry, John, that you had such a bad experience at rhe Palm Desert location ive been going there now for about three yars or more and i can say the nurse i have is a bit pushy and i havenr, till recently, had a regular doc. But i rhink in the past year they have gotten their act together and its really good
I guess I'm just lucky, I have never had any problems on cook street VA. I have a good doctor too.
Just go to Loma Linda VA hospital they have a brand new facility along with the old one, all within a mile of each other. When I signed up I was seen by my new primary care the same day. Go early & be the first one in line & you could be home by late afternoon. I have had excellent care there. I agree with John Kisha the bedside manner at Cook Street is bad & they are always being pushy not allowing the nurses to explain things to you. I will never go there for anything anymore.
I certainly wouldn't go to the clinic on cook street. I was receiving great care from the West Los Angeles VA, then i moved to PS, but after two years of commuting from PS to Los Angeles i thought I'd try switching over to the Cook Street facility. WORST FACILITY EVERY. It literally took 4 months to get an appointment and then they called two days before to cancel it because they mistakenly booked it on a holiday. The nurses were indiferent, and the doctors even worse. They never heard of bedside manner. And the icing on the cake was upon leaving the clinic, they scheduled my future appointments without even consulting me regarding dates or times. Then after getting home, i started reading my check-out form which lists prescriptions, starts and a summary of what was covered in the appointment. After finding several unfamiliar notations I noticed that they checked me out and have me someone else's medical records! I'll now happily back at West LA Hospital. It's well worth the commute.
Yes, he can go on VA website and apply for benefits. If ue is seeking Health Care he will have to go to VA Hospital and go through in processing. Claims for Disability can he filed online now. He will need his DD214, a copy of it can be requested through VA.
