We were there mid December for the Christmas Concert and walked through the area from parking about 5 blocks with no concerns.
Yes, it is an upscale area for musicals, theater, and the performing arts! A great place to relax and enjoy the festivities with family and friends!
It's a city so be smart but there couldn't be a safer downtown for a top ten city in the US...
It's safe, especially during concerts/shows. Yes, you might see homeless people and they might ask for money, but nothing dangerous. I've worked in that area for nearly five years and it's been safe.
Yes it's a tourists area right in the middle of center city.
Yes, it seems like a safe area. Always be smart in unknown cities though...stick to the sidewalk, stay in lit areas, and be with other people when possible.
The Kimmel Center is right on the theater district and the section of Philadelphia that is known as Center City. It is very busy with both business people and tourists. Broad Street is also one of the busiest streets in Philadelphia. It is a safe area for walking and sight seeing.
Yes. It is a very busy area. My family and I walked a few blocks to grab a quick bite. We didn't feel unsafe in any way.
Yes, I didn't feel at all unsafe plus it's busy enough that there are usually people walking around and always someone to help you.
