Only the screen face contains lead in the glass. The face is removed and then super-heated, the molten lead is heavier than the molten glass, the lead sinks to the bottom of the furnace and the glass floats to the top. The lead is then drained off and goes back into circulation to create new products. Hope that helps?

Hello Richard, The lead is removed by firstly breaking the CRT vacuum, separating the leaded glass and then melting the glass to drain out the molten lead. Both glass and lead can be recycle infinitely.

Hi Richard they use a CRT separation machine to cut the lead face off and then melt the front of the screen to get the lead.
