Do the people at the board head counter get paid on commission? The reason I ask is that the last two times I have asked for very thin or deli slices, they seem to get upset and either pretend not to understand or they give me more than I ask.

It depends who is working in the deli. I dont think they are trained properly. Next time tell the mgr. of the deli or store. The mgr. gets monthly commission on Laura Lynn products sold.

I had the same problem -- they don't seem to understand "thin sliced" -- I no longer buy their products

Labor vs pounds sold is a very real number and as you have probably figured out it take more to slice thin not only in labor but also packaging.

I have made the same decision Bob Ledford. I asked for deli slices and then I got a mini lecture about most people buy per pound or divisions of a pound and if I just say 20 they don't know what I mean! Lol. Apparently asking for 20 deli slices of ham please isn't descriptive enough.
