Depends on your age and the type of license you are getting. If you are 21 years and older and you want an enhanced license you need many documents which will be scanned into the DMV system. To be on the safe side bring with you: current drivers license, passport, social security card, utility bill. If you have had a name change that is not reflected on any of those documents you must bring supporting documents as to the name change. The DMV website has good checklist program to check what you need before you go.

DMV operates on a 6 point id system whereas your documents have different point values. You must present proof of date of birth, social security card and 4 additional points of identification such as credit card, bank card, job id, pay stub, etc.
