The church is open to the public. You'll find a diverse group of individuals visiting for spiritual reasons, to read up on the history of the building, or simply to admire the architecture of this massive structure.
There are many visitors who come to the Basilica. It's an inspiring place to worship, especially at the noon "high mass" on Sunday. There are tours shortly after with docents who will show you around and help you experience the lovely mosaics, sculptures, etc.
