Did this place offer better service than I received? The waitress was more about catering to the male members of the group. She did not ask what I wanted to drink although she did the men. She asked the men how their food was, not the females

Shouldn't it be eqivical, no matter how busy? It doesn't take that much more effort.

Depends on how busy they are. I've gotten that feeling too, when they are crowded
