Causeway Park is on the mainland and extends into the Indian River. The Indian River is brackish, which is salt and fresh mixed. Continue over the Causeway to reach Hutchinson Island. The water on the West side is still Indian River brackish, water on the East is the salty Atlantic Ocean.
Its a tidal saltwater estuary.
