Yes you can. It has to have their full committed name as well. If their committed name is William, you can't write "Bill" "Billy" or "Willy" or "Will" on the money order (or envelope) the names of the intended inmate and money order purchaser need match on both the money order and envelope to avoid being placed in their confiscated account or returned to the sender. Also placing the inmate's inmate number and housing unit on them (envelope and money order) will help ensure it gets to the right inmate, as there have been cases of inmates having the same name.

You can send money orders. Just be sure that your name on the envelope and name of purchaser on the order match or they won't give it to them. Found that out the hard way
