Plug patches are the commonly used repair method now.
Plugs are a temporary fix. Speed rated tires should never be plugged. Plugs break the belts and cause the tire to misform. A patch is the only real fix.
Yes you can ...unless like the guy above said about it being in the sidewall..But screws 99.9 percent of the time arent in the sidewall unless it was put there intentionally. Chances are if you have a screw in your tire air wont leak out all at once unless you pull the screw out. With the screw in it usually leaks slowly.
Being in the tire industry for 27 years yes you can plug a tire if it has a screw in it but now in times a liability and everybody getting sued many many of the tire companies will not plug a tire and will only patch a tire on the inside if it's in the center of the tread if it is in the sidewall or in the edges they will not do that you will need to buy a tire in Tire Kingdom does live by those rules. It's a liability issue they have to corporate rules
Normally, the answer is yes. However, if the screw is in the sidewall of the tire, it is rarely possible to successfully repair the puncture.
