The best day is Wednesday for the feeding tour which costs extra but worth it. It's in the afternoon. I went in early November and it was beautiful.
We went in January so it would be much cooler walking around. The only thing we missed was the grizzly bear.
The animals are active all the time. It's a easy walking path, so it really doesn't matter what time of year you go. It depends on how you like the heat
