When did River Oaks Mall originally open

I believe it was in the 60's sometime. When I was in High School 69'-72' River Oaks was an open mall. All the store entrances were outside. You would have to walk in what ever weather from store to store. Sometime in the late 70's early 80's it was all closed in and connected the stores so you didnt have to walk outside anymore. In the early days of River Oaks there was a concrete center with walkways connecting the stores. (All outside) In the center there were flowers, benches, a open place to rest, eat, talk, whatever inbetween shopping. Of course after school and the weekends kids hung out in the center of the mall also.
