I just received my Italian citizenship through my paternal grandfather and got my passport last week. I used an attorney who handled all the documents, and translation. I even had to have an Italian birth certificate generated. It wasn't a super hard process, but I my because I had the attorney. I highly recommend hiring one who is familiar with the process. It would have been too hard to navigate without his help.
