I've never had a problem bringing a rod or reel back that was under warranty and having it replaced. I'm not sure what products you're buying? But I know the st. Croix Rods have excellent warranty on them and you register your ride and they've swap them out for me there so to me they've always stood behind their product they sell
Alot of shops won't because they have to deal with sending the broken ones back to the manufacturer and replacing what they gave you to replace whatever was broke.
The store themselves don't warranty what they are selling
