Depends on the destination. You might need a passport but always need a photo ID, no matter what.

No at best you should not have a fever because all they are doing is taking a temp. In fact when I flew from JFK it was through Air India and AI performed the temp check. Honestly I am not sure if JFk is doing any check at all!!
