Although it was 23 years ago... I did not from NY to MA. Since you can legally drive in mass with a NY license it shouldn't need it. But the mass rmv site should have an faq. I don't see a problem here https://www.mass.gov/how-to/transfer-your-out-of-state-drivers-license-to-massachusetts. Another country might be an issue but NJ, should be fine
