Pretty loaded question. The answer would be fundamentally based on what changes, if any, you've made to the bike (from the OEM configuration). If the answer is that it's close to stock, then the two vehicles are pretty evenly matched out of the box. There are pros and cons for each platform which when applied in real world conditions, tend to cancel each other out. For example: 05-06 made 75.4 lb-ft of torque vs 12-16 made 76 lb-ft of torque, but the 05 platform wet weight is 15 lbs lighter than 2016. Additionally 05 had a 43T rear sprocket vs 16's 42T, again, pairing them pretty closely off the line. If you are looking for real world advantages that will directly impact performance, I would recommend Iridium Spark plugs, Carbon Fiber Clutch, and baller tires ( Michelin Power RS, or Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3)

So I was wondering if I put a power commander and tune my bike if I would take the win?
