Pay-what-you-wish ticketing is available for General Admission only (all permanent halls, plus the Rose Center for Earth and Space) and is available at the ticketing kiosks inside the Museum. Special exhibitions require full-price tickets (GA + One or GA + All) and can be purchased at the kiosks, or online in advance, at https://ticketing.amnh.org/#/tickets

It's suggested admission. You pay as much as you can. If you have just one dollar it's ok.

It is not free, and you will not be able to get in without paying

Admission is not free. You have to purchase a ticket to get in and certain exhibits require the purchase of an additional ticket.
