I have a Sony camcorder that records just fine, the only thing that does not seem to work is the remote to camcorder function, so I can not play back tapes on the TV. The battery for the remote was replace, but that apparently wasn't the issue.

For the cost to repair it, you could probably purchase a pretty high quality digital video camera...but yes, it could also be an easy fix if you Google the model number and the issue
