My friend just went and got his wife's death certificate. He didn't know until 4 months later after she passed because her mother called him... My question is, Why wasn't he contacted?? They were still married and talked.

So if i understand this question correctly is that he was not notified of her death right ? If so the only way that they would not contact him was if he was not on the emergency contact list. Or her family did not want him notified or she legally had him taking off her paperwork. But if he still talked then he should of been with her an visited on a regular bases .An then he would of known. Hope this helps an god bless in your time of need.

I agree with the response above. Where did your friend think she was? The patient is the one who sets the parameters unless and until the person who has medical power of attorney takes over, legally. Was this a second marriage where an adult child had POA? I'm sorry there were extra problems for your friend as he lost his wife.
