Is there anyplace like a Ronald McDonald house there to stay for families of veterans or someplace that doesn't cost a fortune. I heard there was someplace being built last April but I don't know what it was called.

Yes, the west Haven VA built a house just for that purpose last year. Im not sure of the name of it but it's at the bottom of the hill.

There is a newly built RMH across from Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. Not sure of how you go about making accommodations (try the VFW or Legion) and I think they also provide shuttle service.
