There are 3 person Kayaks which in my opinion are better than a canoe for your young family. They seem a little more enclosed and steady than the openness of a canoe. Hope that helps. Go early it fills up fast. They will take you in a van to the designated area. (entrance off US-19)

We ended up taking 3 person kayak and it was great! My 9 yo sat in front and helped paddle a little. I agree thr canoe would have been harder. I saw few adults capsize. Thanks for everyone's advise!

I'd highly suggest a kayak. They are much more stable and easy to maneuver than a canoe. Every time I kayak to the Weikiva Spring I see people and families struggling with their canoe vs everyone usually enjoying themselves in a kayak. You should be able to fit yourself and both kids in a 2 person kayak if one child sits on your lap/ in the leg area of the kayak.
