Founding and growth.Fuddruckers was founded as Freddie Fuddruckers in 1979 by Philip J. Romano in San Antonio, Texas, in a location converted to a restaurant from an old bank. He started the chain because he thought that "the world needed a better hamburger."
Not sure why it is called Fudruckers but when I was just out of high school I worked in a place very similar called "Gangbusters" we made our own buns and had a similar menu. Except the game meats. I always wondered if they weren't the same with a different name. Fudruckers is very delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend it.
Fuddruckers, originally Freddy Fuddruckers, was named as a humorous reference to the aviation inside joke airline (often touted as having things like steam powered airplanes) name Fudpucker Airlines.
It was founded by Philip Romano in san Antonio TX in 1979 it was actually named freddie fuddruckers in the beginning and was name after a fake airport quite strange but true
I think it's an Australian company or Australian influence. Fuddruckers may be an Australian term or name.
