We love the selection at the olive bar, but it is a hassle to bring and use our own mason jars (to avoid using the plastic containers provided at the store). It is never a problem at any other store, including local farmers markets.

No you wouldn't need to bring your own containers some individuals choose not to add to land fills the plastic containers provided.

We choose to bring our own containers to avoid perpetuating the use of plastic, which are the only type of containers they provide. There was quite a bit of confusion amongst the staff when we tried to use our own containers even though we tared the containers before filling them with the olives.

I think you accidently added your comment to the question section instead of the review section.

If you don't want to use the container maybe use the plastic bags at the bulk section....

For those of you who don't understand, the reason someone would bring their own mason jars with them when shopping is to avoid generating more waste. Single-use plastic is a HUGE issue that we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to (just google "Great Pacific Garbage Patch"). It really is up to all of us to make small changes in order to ensure that future generations actually have a healthy planet to call home.
