You both can file separately because your not married honestly they really don't check on that unless you mention it.
Yes, though depends on combined income I believe. If you prepare and buy food together, technically they will count both incomes and provide benefits for 2 instead of 1. Unless one of your incomes is too high. Or if you prepare and buy food by yourself, just claim yourself.
