Andrea, please be sure to check with whatever shelter you go to. Dont surrender to a kill shelter. I would be happy to speak to you directly, altho I am not an employee there. LOOKS like Tom Truppa has the best advice.
I know Brian and Rose and they will help you if you are in their service area. You might have to go to st huberts the best yhing to do is to call them. Also my cousin works with a rescue the last resort in West Milford and they could probably take her too. You can find the last resort rescue on Facebook. Additionally my other cousin works with 11th hour rescue I think they are in Rockaway you can contact them as well. Good luck
Call the shelter. Ask to speak to Brian Rose Nancy Staff makes no judgements of people or animals being turn in. If for some reason (usually overcrowding) we will work with you to find a shelter that has room. We are a no kill shelter. My rescue was at shelter for over a year. We just placed a cat that was at shelter, from Christmas 2017 until a few days ago, Christmas 2018.
Get rid of? What a nice way of putting it. Call the shelter.
Is your dog house trained, spayed/neutered and gentle? I would love to rescue a pitty but my biggest fear would be it is aggressive. I live in an apartment but am moving soon and I really want a dog. I love the idea of having a pit bull but he/she would need to be gentle and not aggressive in any way.
Yeah " get rid of" sounds like she was really part of your family. They do not accept dogs outside of their servicing area. Most likely you will " get rid of" your dog to a kill shelter and they will be killed. But, I am sure your still interested in getting rid of your family member. Good luck.
