If I purchase a ticket early what would happen

Nothing but a cheaper ticket.

Not only will it be cheaper but the earlier you book the more buses you can choose from. Sometimes 2 or more buses go from one city to another and one takes 4 hours the other takes 8 hours

You would get a better rate and a lower boarding number for that schedule.
